The photo series “Paradox of Birth” challenges the paradoxical perceptions of pregnancy and childbirth in modern society. Using a doll to avoid personalization, the work critiques the relentless objectification of women’s bodies, even during this profound period. Early images present the doll in poses that conform to aesthetic norms—slim, serene, and socially celebrated—evoking admiration. But the final image, depicting the act of giving birth, triggers discomfort. The natural process of childbirth, essential to all life, is hidden, tabooed, and dismissed as an unpleasant spectacle. People eagerly consume violent, horrifying, or absurdly extreme content but avert their eyes from the raw reality of a woman bringing life into the world.

Society conceals and trivializes the intense pain and sacrifice of childbirth, reducing it to a sanitized concept, while the lived experience of women is disregarded. If men endured childbirth, its gravity would undoubtedly be acknowledged; perhaps wars would cease, for they would understand the monumental cost of each life. This series demands reflection: why do we revere the image of pregnancy but shy away from its truth? It’s time to confront this hypocrisy and honor the strength it takes to create life.
